Liquor thefts

Two businesses in Lakes Entrance were the target of liquor thieves over the weekend.

In the first theft at Albert & Co a man aged in his mid 30s walked into the café/restaurant just after 7.30pm on Saturday and went behind the counter of the bar.

He perused the bar fridge before opening the door, but was stopped by the manager from taking anything and told to leave.

The man then proceeded to a high end liquor cabinet where he filled his shopping bag with about eight bottles of expensive alcohol before leaving the premises.

Albert & Co estimates the bounty came to $2000.

The man, who had an accomplice waiting in a car, then proceeded further up the Esplanade to BWS where he audaciously made off with three bottles of cognac vauled at$320.

Lakes Entrance police had the man under arrest on Monday morning.

He is believed to be from Melbourne and is known to police.
