If you are a passionate amateur home brewer, then Waterwheel Beach Tavern’s Homebrew Brew Off is an opportunity to have your talents recognised.

The Homebrew Brew Off at Lake Tyers Beach is being held over the next three months. The 2019 brew master will get their beer commercially produced by Waterwheel Beach Tavern.

This includes beer on tap, packaged beer for a limited release, branding and label design.

You also get $1000 worth of marketing.

“We want our part of the world to be a serious beer lover’s destination,” Kevin Campbell, of Waterwheel Beach Tavern declared.

“To help make that happen we’re willing to turn your awesome homebrew into Lake Tyers Beach’s first micro-brewed craft beer.”

The Homebrew Brew Off will be contested over three sessions.

Session one will be a feedback session. The judges will sample and critique every beer and provide feedback and notes to every entrant. This gives each contestant a chance to take the judges advice and brew another, possibly better beer.

Session two is where judging begins in earnest with only half the entrants going through to the next round.

The final big ‘sesh’ will be judged by all the brewers that didn’t get through and the official judges. There will also be a people’s choice prize.

The judges will be Chris Moore, of Sailor’s Grave Brewery, Wayne Burnett, of Red Bluff Brewers, and Sam Penhalluriack, of Young Henry’s Brewery.

Entry forms are available from the Waterwheel Beach Tavern, Lake Tyers Beach.
