Johno Yates, staff member at the East Gippsland Shire was the instigator of a breakfast address at the East Gippsland Shire’s works office at Lakes entrance on Tuesday morning, the subject men’s health and Prostate Cancer.
Guest speaker was Moss Mahony East Gippsland’s most passionate promoter of men’s health and prostate awareness.
Around 50 blokes from the Bruce’s track depot listened to Moss deliver the important messages of being checked and tracked for good health, as well as making sure men are PSA checked annually as a marker against possible Prostate Cancer.
Moss produced statistics that highlighted that Gippsland had a poor record regarding Prostate Cancer awareness and treatment of men compared to the city counterparts.
Moss has delivered short addresses in Mallacoota, Lindenow ,Bairnsdale Lakes Entrance and was very pleased to be invited by the Shire to address the men on International Men’s Day prior to them starting work yesterday morning.
The Local Prostate Support group headed up with Moss the dynamo are very keen to engage with any community groups to help spread awareness and messages of men’s health on a volunteer basis.
Moss said young Jonno needed to be congratulated on his interest and concern, and his preparedness to actually do something about the men’s health.
“Today at Bruces track was a great success I think and that all started with Jonno,” he said
