Defending champion Lakes Entrance returned to form with a bang in Gippsland Bowls Region midweek premier division bowls, annihilating Howitt Park 95-44 at home last week, maintaining its hold on second spot on the table.

Mike McKay, Jim Northe, Jenny and Kevin Dowie maintained their outstanding recent form, winning comprehensively 37-10.

Maurice Carroll, Margaret Brandhoj, Bill Rowley, Joanne Martin (32-21), and Ron Baylis, Doreen Edwards, Gail Palmer and David South (26-13) also joined in the rout.

Again, there were mixed results in division two with the sides struggling to put it all together on the same day.

Lakes 2 maintained its hold on fourth spot with a 69-46 win, clean sweep victory over Paynesville at home.

Dawn Irwin, Peter Alves-Veira, Peter Howie and Rob Norder won the closest rink 26-22, with much easier results for Ruth McPhee, Stan Short, Hayden Lancaster, Boyd McPhee (21-14) and Julie Rowe, Alan Light, Bill Gilbert and Sam Berlingeri (22-10).

Lakes Entrance 3 made the trip east to tackle arch rival, Orbost, but wasn’t successful going down 69-49, with the only rink winners being Max Towen, Treen Norder, Frank Detering and Geoffrey Rawlings, 23-16.

In division three both Lakes Entrance sides were successful, with Lakes Entrance 5 breaking through for its first win of the season beating Howitt Park 37-29.

Robyn Auscote, Margo Short, Sandra Hudson and Ernie Smith were 18-16 winners, with Jeannette Smith, Suzanne Light, Rhonda O’Neill and Denis Olivia victorious 19-13.

Lakes 4 kept its unbeaten run for the season going, defeating Bairnsdale 41-31.

They remain second on the ladder with Ian Gray, Leslie Gersbach, Carol and John Hurren again pivotal winning 24-14.

Dianne Scott, Kenneth Melville, Heather Todd and John Kimberley escaping with a draw 17-apiece.
