Readers may be aware of a recent decision made by the Rotary Club of Lakes Entrance in relation to donations to worthy causes in the local area.
The club agreed to consider making smaller donations, as progressive payments, instead of waiting until later in the financial year.
This week, Rotary Club president Bernard Abrecht attended Lakes Entrance Neighbourhood House where he presented a Rotary Club donation to the Neighbourhood House president Penny-Ann Clark and centre manager Gayle Webster.
“We recognise that the Neighbourhood House will be extra busy over the Christmas period and our modest donation will be a small help in meeting the needs of the community,” Mr Abrecht said.
Ms Clark agreed.
“This donation is seen as very timely, given the huge workload facing the Centre in the lead-up to the summer season,” she said.
Centre manager Ms Webster acknowledged the tireless work undertaken by volunteers at the centre, including a significant number of Rotary members and their partners, in providing day-to-day support to maintain the operation of the facility.
“The need to assist members of the community continues to grow each year and we are always grateful to receive support to help us in our work,” Gayle said.
Donations of cash or goods, including non-perishable food, are always welcome and can be accepted at the centre on Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 2pm each week.
