Local musician and vocalist Olivia Lay is about to release her EP titled 24 and will have an album launch at the Kalimna Hotel on Sunday, November 10, at 2pm.
Although she has released one instrumental album, this will be her first vocal EP, and she will be playing all the new songs on the day.
Local emerging talent Emily Carter will open the event.
Olivia is now a full-time musician and is looking forward to a busy summer. She will be performing at the Solar Sessions at Nowa Nowa Recreation Reserve on Friday, November 8, and has scored a gig at the famous Queenscliff Music Festival playing on the under 25 Stage which she is very excited to do.
“I really enjoy playing with other artists and was recently with blues performer Geoff Achison at Bruthen, Charlie Bedford at the Paynesville Wine Bar and the support act for Nathan Cavaleri at The Bundy,” she said.
Olivia would love to see as many people as possible come along and support the Kalimna Hotel and the live music industry in Lakes Entrance.
“The EP was recorded at the Bruthen Recording Studio with Brent Hodgkin and the album cover was designed by Jesse Kidd from Lakes Entrance. I named the EP 24 as I am 24 in 2024,” she said.
Olivia is a keen supporter of emerging talent and organises the Open Mic at The Slipway monthly.
“The next one will be on Friday, November 15, from 5pm. It has been very popular with up to 15 performers of all different styles, many seeing it as the highlight of the week to come and play,” she said.
Olivia encourages anyone who would like to come along and perform or just be part of the audience to show their support and enjoy a night of music.
“Sometimes someone will be too nervous to perform but will get up at the end of the night and jam with all participants. This is my favourite part seeing everyone making music together.
“So, if you want to come down have a listen and see the amazing local talent we have you will be made most welcome,” Olivia said.
Her album ’24’ will be released on November 11 and is available on all online platforms and as a CD.
