Another big week of golf at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club was highlighted by the victory of members Di Gray and Di Dickson last Friday at Bairnsdale Golf Club in a 4BBB event.
The dynamic duo was successful in the “B” grade and overall with an impressive 47 stableford points in a quality field that attracted 36 pairs.
In “A” grade the South Pines combination Jenny Ellis and Ros Toland were winners with 44 points.
Another Lakes Entrance combination, Sherrie Elliott and Ruth McPhee, finished sixth with a good score of 43 points.
Closer to home numbers were down after a big spring tournament of golf, many taking the opportunity to rest up before regrouping for a big weekend of golf over the Melbourne Cup weekend.
Tuesday’s young and restless event was hotly contested with Faye Hammond coming out on top by countback from Marie Te Wierik.
Ruthless and Toothless saw Justin Gray and Mark Evans pick up “A” and “B” grade respectively.
The scoring was high on ladies’ day with Olivia Chester winning “A” grade with 45 points, Te Wierik continued her great recent form, having 44 points and taking out “B” grade.
Saturday’s “A” grade event and overall was won by Bannockburn Golf Club visitor, Ray Dalton, who relished the expanses of the Lakes Entrance Golf Club, scoring a magnificent 43 points.
Lower grade winners were the consistent Don Blamire and Graham Wells.
Elliott won the women’s event on countback from Julie Rowe after they both finished with 41 points.
The course continues to be in magnificent condition and attractive to good scoring currently.
