Despite the windy conditions, 46 participants braved the elements in last Saturday’s Lakes Entrance parkrun, which was led home by Brendan Malcolm.
The event saw 13 first time participants, one personal best and eight groups represented.
Malcolm led the field home in 18 minutes and 14 seconds, finishing ahead of regular Bairnsdale parkrun participants Ethan (18.20) and Campbell Sanderson (19.03).
Interestingly the star of recent Lakes parkrun’s Jett Knur was successful in his first attempt at the Bairnsdale run in 20 minutes and 14 seconds.
The first woman home was Madeline Gloede at her first attempt at the course in 26 minutes and 24 seconds, with the personal best achieved by Tania Casey (29.12).
Other highlights included Margaret Rowley achieving her 200th parkrun, Bec Voss and Mick Bedford their 50th as volunteers.
Running groups represented included Lakes and District Runners, Riviera Triathlon Club, Pakenham Road Runners, Little Athletics ACT, Victorian Cross Country League, The Adventurers, Southern Peninsula Sports Club and Everlasting Fitness Runners.
The event takes place at Lakes Entrance Rotunda, Memorial Park from 8am every Saturday morning.
