CLAY TARGET: The Bairnsdale Clay Target Club hosted the Gippsland Sports Academy Clay Target Squad for a recent training session, it was great for the GSA to once again train at the club where the clay target program first commenced in 2017. (PS)
NETBALL: Boisdale Briagolong Football Netball Club has appointed Mollie Havers as its 2024 “A” grade coach. Havers, the 2023 “B” grade premiership coach, brings a wealth of knowledge through her playing and coaching background. (PS)
GOLF: Winners on the public holiday last week at the Sale Golf Club were Tom Justice, Matt Dowsett and Lindenow Primary School principal, Adam Cairns. (PS)
BASKETBALL: The Sale Basketball association was fortunate enough to have home grown former NBL star Matt Smith come along to training and pass along some of his knowledge. Smith was kind enough to run players through some post drills, teaching the importance of spacing, doing your work early and having patience. (PS)
MOTOR RACING: The Maffra Sale Motorcycle Club will host the Gippsland Regional Motorcross Championships on the action. The club are hoping for plenty of great racing, like when the championships began back in 1974. (PS)
GOLF: The Newry Golf Club ladies recently defeated the Toongabbie Golf Club in the annual Toongabbie Newry challenge. (PS)
BOWLS: The Heyfield Bowls Club four champions for 2024/2025 are Shane Kelly, Hayden Sellings, Charlie Wojcinski and Shane Phillips. (PS)
BOWLS: The Heyfield Bowls Club, ladies fours champions for 2024/2025 were Chris Sherrin, Maud Kelly, Julie Stone and Linda Kelly. (PS)
GOLF: Another great result for the Newry Golf Club, with Janice, Kaye and Jean winning last weeks, Metung Ladies Bowl. (PS)
UMPIRING: Bairnsdale umpire Dean Ryan, who officiates with the East Gippsland Umpires Association and Latrobe Valley Umpires Association (LVUA) was recently made a life member of the LVUA after many years of dedicated service. (PS)
