Gippsland Jersey is once again calling for stories from local dairy farmers for its much-anticipated annual calendar, which features 12 inspiring farmers from across Gippsland.
The calendar, a passion project for co-founder Sallie Jones, highlights the challenges and triumphs of life on the land and is distributed to dairy farmers each December via their milk tankers.
If you might put the word out for us if anyone knows a dairy farmer with a unique, inspiring, or challenging story, Gippsland Jersey wants to hear from them. Applications are open until October 15, with submissions to be sent via email.
Earlier this year, ABC Landline featured the calendar, noting how it has helped change the conversation around mental health in farming communities over the past eight years. Gippsland Jersey believes that storytelling is a powerful tool to reduce stigma and foster a sense of connection among farmers.
“This calendar is incredibly close to my heart,” Sallie Jones said.
“My dad was a dairy farmer and a master storyteller. I dedicate this calendar to him every year. These are the kinds of stories he would have loved, and who knows? If more farmers had shared their stories, things might have been different.”
To continue celebrating the region’s dairy industry and keep the conversation around mental health alive, Gippsland Jersey invites your participation in this meaningful project.
