Lakes Entrance Football Netball Club has locked in two more coaches for the 2025 East Gippsland Football Netball League season last week appointing Ben Rotheram and Jordan Cullen.
Both will work alongside recently appointed senior coach, Darren Martin, Rotheram as a playing assistant coach and Cullen as thirds coach.
Club president Kevin Giblin was delighted to confirm the appointment of both last week.
“Ben led the senior team in 2024 and will continue to play a critical role on and off the field alongside Darren Martin and our developing group. His passionate playing style and wealth of game-day experience will add depth to our senior list and we can’t wait to see him kicking a bag of goals in 2025,” Giblin said.
Cullen took charge of thirds last season after serving an apprenticeship under mentor, Lou Battista.
“Jordan’s positive and supportive coaching style is well suited to the ongoing development of our young players, we look forward to seeing him coach another successful season,” Giblin said.
The Martin-Rotheram unison looks ideal for the Seagulls and something the club has been working towards for a number of weeks.
The experienced Martin has had an extensive football journey which saw him have a distinguished career as a player at Paynesville, Bairnsdale, Lindenow and Newborough, before senior coaching roles at Paynesville and Bairnsdale, highlighted by the 2013 East Gippsland Football Netball League premiership with Paynesville.
Martin pleased to have the enthusiastic Rotheram onboard for 2025.
“Ben did a great job last season building a real culture, standing for something and creating a disciplined approach to the way the club goes about things, while still having fun. We will
try to build on that.” Martin said.
The club’s great junior program excites Martin and he hopes to continue to nurture those youngsters through the program with the assistance of Cullen.
The Seagulls will have a meet the coach night on Thursday night from 6pm in the social rooms.
Players, sponsors and supporters are invited to come along and chat to Martin and the coaching panel.
