The Lions Club of Gippsland Lakes Lionesses held its annual junior public speaking competition on Thursday, September 5, at the Mechanics Hall.
There were four schools participating, with nine students in total.
It was well attended with around 80 parents, family and teachers.
The event was organised by Lioness Secretary Cynthia Robinson and the Lioness ladies provided a lovely supper at the end of the evening.
Schools and students participated:
– St Brendans Catholic Primary Lakes Entrance:
Winter Thomas, Lacey Lee and Berlins Kiowa.
St Mary’s Catholic Primary Bairnsdale:
Noah Gardam and Jackson Miller.
Lakes Entrance Primary: Sienba Matthews, Zachary Matthews and Kaiden Cahill.
Toorloo Arm Primary:
Gracie Lunny.
The winners at the end of the night was Winter Thomas and Gracie Lunny.
The two winners will go on to compete against winners from other Lion Districts which will be held in Trafalgar next month.
The official guest for the evening was Past District Governor Kim Ainsworth who handed out framed certificates to all participants.
The two winners received a $50 book voucher each and a special framed winners certificate.
