Last Saturday night at Cafe Chez Joe in Metung, the mood was much warmer and exciting inside than out, with colourful performances by belly dancer Azra of Melbourne.
Azra, originally from Bosnia, has for the past 15 years been teaching English as a second language in Melbourne and dancing, as well as performing her own shows up to five nights a week.
According to Azra, she has worked hard and been busy since she arrived in Australia.
Her professional performance brought art and culture to East Gippsland over the weekend, dancing to a full house at Cafe Chez Joe on Saturday night.
Cafe Chez Joe was opened in 2021 by local colourful character Joe Boutros.
Joe said he was very pleased with the Saturday night performance, mixing local guitarist Duncan Clark who performed individually and also supported Azra’s backing group.
