Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance has thanked the Uniting Church Op Shop for its recent donation to the nipper program.
The members of the Uniting Church work tirelessly for the community and the surf club is grateful for their donation.
“Nippers runs every Sunday from November to March for children under eight to under 14,” club secretary Kris Cordery said.
“It’s a program run by our club’s volunteers in teaching and assisting our kids
with water safety and awareness.
“Surf Life Saving Lakes Entrance provides a surf education program which, under the auspice of Life Saving Victoria (LSV), includes competition, training, surf awareness and first aid, all taught by experienced volunteer lifesavers. The program is run in a safe, friendly environment that encourages children to have a go at all activities.
“We aim to develop each child’s potential in helping a child to build their confidence, to have a go and expand their abilities in the surf.
“We value good sportsmanship, the ability to work in a team and have fun with each other.
“Our club runs on the generous support of the community and these donations help fund equipment for our club and its volunteers to provide safe and patrolled beached within our region.”
The Uniting Church Op Shop group has recently donated to others including Neighbourhood House, Vinnies Assistance Centre and local primary schools.
