Nungurner Primary School is proud to announce its centenary celebration, marking 100 years of dedication to students and the local community with an event this Saturday to celebrate the school’s rich history, the achievements of its students and staff and the strong ties it has maintained with the local community and environment.
Running from 11am to 3pm at the school, the centenary celebration will feature a wide range of activities, reflecting the school’s commitment to education and community values.
These will include old-fashioned games and cubby building, student performances, historical displays and commemorative tea-towels.
The day’s activities will be complemented by local flavours on offer by “The Tank” food van from Metung and a coffee van run by Nungurner alumni, accompanied by morning and afternoon tea.
There’s only a few days to go until the community comes together to commemorate 100 years of Nungurner Primary School and the school can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a special guest appearance from country music stars, Jetty Road.
Twin sisters Lee and Paula attended the school in the 1980s before going on to achieve international acclaim as a three-piece country band alongside Lee’s husband, Julian.
If the band name is anything to go by, Nungurner is close to their hearts, and the school can’t wait to experience this when their beautiful harmonies return.
The Nungurner Primary School centenary is a testament to the enduring legacy of its students and staff, whose achievements have resonated both locally and beyond.
The school’s emphasis on community involvement, environmental stewardship and student development has set a standard of excellence that will continue into the next century.
Nungurner Primary School has been more than just an educational institution; it’s been a cornerstone of our small community. This centenary is a celebration of the generations who have passed through our doors and the strong, supportive community that surrounds us.
All community members, including alumni, current students, families, and friends, are warmly invited to join the celebration. This is a unique opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and contribute to the next chapter in the school’s history.
