It was a huge day of hockey at the WORLD field in Bairnsdale last Saturday with four teams playing from 9am right through until 8pm.
The day began with Sale and Orbost playing through the morning until 3pm, when the home team Swan Reach played Wellington.
The Swan Reach under 18s and open teams took the opportunity to support Men’s Health Round by wearing their blue socks.
The weather couldn’t have been better for the spectators, and Swan Reach had its grand opening of the brand new pavilion clubrooms and canteen which was well patronised throughout the day.
Swan Reach was successful in the under 10s (4-0), under 16s (3-0), under 18s (6-0) and open (14-0) matches.
Wellington was too good in the under 12s, victorious 7-0, with the under 14 match finishing in a 2-2 draw.
The Swan Reach women’s side had the bye.
Sale dominated the matches against Orbost winning the under 10s (4-1), under 14s (3-0), under 16s (4-1), under 18s (4-1) and women’s (12-1).
The closest match of the day was in the under 12s where the sides played a nil-all
draw.
This week the WORLD precinct will host the East Gippsland Hockey Association semi finals on Friday night.
The venue will also host the Vic League 3 semi final with Swan Reach and Nagle hockey clubs running the canteen together and showcasing their brand-new facilities over the entire weekend.
