The Beyond Limits Café at the Mechanics Hall in Lakes Entrance has been operating on a Wednesday evening since July, with all who have visited enjoying the meals and beverages on offer to the public.
The café is an all abilities venue overseen by Mosaic Elite Health disability support provider which aims to provide goals of independence, confidence, sense of purpose and employment skills to its participants.
So far the public has supported it quite well, but they are calling all lovers of home style soups, mains and desserts to come in and enjoy a sit down meal or take home. A qualified chef assists with the preparation of all meals.
“Anyone can come in and enjoy a welcoming smile, friendly service and delicious meals,” chief executive officer Catherine Conway said.
“The runners club attend every week and support us, which we appreciate. The dinners are great, very reasonably priced and the menu changes each week.”
This week’s menu included Thai pumpkin soup, curried chicken apricot nectar, satay combination beef and chicken stir fry and jasmine rice. For dessert it was sticky date pudding.
Catherine explained the participants, with the assistance of chef Taniesha Kitchen, can learn and then cook these meals at home for themselves.
Trey was the cook and waiter on the evening the Lakes Post visited and showcased his talents on all levels.
The café is open from 4pm on a Wednesday evening.
So, if you enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, a sweet treat or a sumptuous meal come along and savour the taste of inclusion.
