Masonic Lodges in East Gippsland have just finished organising the funds for the Kokoda Trek this year where, with the assistance of the Freemasons Foundation, will be donating $13,242 to send two students to Papua New Guinea to follow in the footsteps of their forebears in the 38th Battalion that was formed from volunteers from East Gippsland.
This has been an experience that has a lifelong effect on participants.
Their next charitable project this year is the Annual Schools Bursaries given to primary schools students in need and scholarships to secondary colleges in East Gippsland schools.
It is hoped to grow this project into Sale, where two Lodges have been introduced, and then further west into the Latrobe Valley.
So far this year, five local Lodges are likely to donate (again with the assistance of the Freemasons Foundation) an amount totalling $32,000.
Freemasons Foundation Victoria has hit a $20 million milestone in charitable giving, and is proud to announce that since November 2014 it has granted $20 million toward charitable projects improving the lives and opportunities of Victorians.
This achievement is due to the generosity of Freemasons and their supporters. This milestone is a testament to their collective impact in communities across Victoria, building stronger and healthier communities.
The $20 million granted by Freemasons Foundation Victoria has been a force for positive change and improvement to the lives and opportunities of Victorians – and a source of support for those who need it most. Freemasons are proud of being able to make this contribution to a better society, with a better quality of life and more opportunities for many.
Through its various grant programs and initiatives, the Foundation has been a driving force behind positive change in communities, addressing critical needs, supporting education, fostering health and wellbeing, and responding to emergencies.
