Family, farm, finance and future are the topics for an upcoming Succession Expo at Bruthen.
A representative from Cultivate Farms will be on hand to generate discussion around innovative and non-traditional succession planning methods, there will also be representatives from Findex Accounting and Business Advisory, speaking on the financial considerations of succession planning.
Other businesses represented will include Argentino Legal, which will discuss the important legal considerations of succession planning; Gippsland Community Legal Service, generating discussion about wills and power of attorney; RFCS Gippsland, covering points like the farm business supports available, and a successful succession planning case study.
An East Gippsland Shire Council representative will talk about farm business supports, Social Security Rights Victoria will speak on the support and tips to navigate Centrelink, the pension and other retirement matters, while a Gippsland Regional Mediation will talk about how to approach difficult conversations with respect and the intention to preserve the relationship, when formal mediation is needed and how to prepare/what to expect.
The expo offers the opportunity to meet local lawyers, financial advisors and accountants, as well as connect with services offered by Centrelink, East Gippsland Shire Council, Social Security Rights Victoria, Gippsland Community Legal Service, RFCS Gippsland and others.
There will also be free document certification and witnessing on the day – just take along the original documents (and any copies being certified) where relevant.
There is also the opportunity to gain a free or discount follow up with providers at the event, if the first appointment occurs within three months of the event.
A 1:1 consultation with RFCS Gippsland (they will contact you automatically after the event using your registration details) to help you prepare for your followup meetings so you can get the most out of appointments. Plus, make appointments with the free-to-access government and not-for-profit services that can support your farm business financial and succession planning processes.
The event is funded by the Gippsland Community Foundation and supported by East Gippsland Shire Council.
The Succession Expo will take place at the Bruthen Mechanics Hall on Friday, August 30, from 9.30am-2pm, with morning tea and lunch included.
Tickets are available at $15 each or $25 for a group of up to six people from the same farm business, and are available on Humanitix.
