Lakes Entrance’s under 17 netballers all but secured the minor premiership in East Gippsland netball, comfortably beating Lucknow by 20 goals in round 15 last Saturday.
It was a strong contest early with both teams determined to show their dominance.
The Lakes defence was solid, putting doubt into the Lucknow attackers passes.
The Seagulls settled in to the second half with a strong start helping extended the lead to an unassailable position, the connection between defence and attack being outstanding.
Lakes’ attack continued to sight the shooters in the goal circle and the margin grew.
A solid team effort showed that these young girls have what it takes to go all the way, winning 47-27
Best players were Emma Yates and Tilly Richardson.
15 AND UNDER
After a slow start Lakes started to turn the pressure up with Emily O’Donnell and Lily Eiseman working well together producing some nice goals, but Lucknow was a step ahead from the outset.
Eiseman continued to work hard in both attack and defence, but Lucknow kept the game at a fast pace.
Sadie Stevens maintained the pressure in centre but the Magpies were in complete control, leading by 23 at half time.
the Seagulls didn’t give up and worked hard on their defensive pressure.
Lucknow was also strong in defence producing intercepts and turnovers to extend the margin to 27 at the final change.
The fast pace continued in the last quarter with Lucknow’s shooting accurate, but Charli Richardson and Stevens kept the pressure on.
Even trough Lucknow took home the win, Lakes didn’t make it easy for them.
