Metung Fire Brigade was thrilled to host Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh to view the existing Metung Fire Station and its new block of land.
After the 2020 fires, the community of Metung together with the Metung Fire Brigade joined forces and raised money to purchase a block of land on the corner of Metung Road and Hardys Road.
“The hope was to expedite the urgency to build a brand-new fire station, we have completely outgrown our old station so as to protect and better serve the fast growing Metung community,” the brigade said in a statement.
“Despite this amazing community effort and continued fundraising, Metung has been unable to get this project funded and underway.
“Mr McIntosh and his team were very interested in viewing our station, understanding our limitations there and listening to the plans regarding the proposed newly built station and community hub. Metung is ready to go. The site would represent the ‘Gateway to Metung’.
“We hope that Mr McIntosh will be able to assist our process and thank him and his team for taking the time to visit Metung and its surrounds.”
