Lakes Entrance was victorious in two of its round 13 East Gippsland netball matches against Lindenow at the Lakeside Oval last Saturday.
The sides were evenly matched in “A” grade, but it was the Cats who were steadier down the stretch winning by nine goals, converting at a higher percentage and making better use of the turnovers that were created by the defensive pressure of both teams.
Abbey Yates, Liv Borley and Tehya Morrison all had good games for the Seagulls.
Lakes Entrance consolidated third place on the ladder with a hard fought win in “B” grade, the Seagulls establishing the lead in the first half and hanging to win by four goals in difficult conditions.
Ebony Etheridge and Brittany Seccull led the way in a solid team-orientated victory.
Lakes were chasing its fourth win of the season in “C” grade, and were looking good at half time off the back of some incredible defensive efforts from Bec Rotheram and Reghan Radford.
After the slow start in the third term, the Cats seized the advantage, holding on to be a determined Seagull outfit by five goals.
Rotheram and Poh Gemmell were named in the best for Lakes Entrance.
The Seagulls sit comfortably in third spot on the ladder after a decisive 20-goal win over Lindenow in “D” grade, Lakes Entrance setting the win up with a dominant first quarter.
Cassandra Supple and Harriet Copeland leading the way.
With plenty of players missing due to illness an undermanned Lakes Entrance was outclassed by 33 goals by Lindenow, Alyssa Witham and Tulli McLeod trying hard for the Seagulls in a tough morning.
