It was a great result for the Redlegs in Gippsland League junior netball, winning two of three matches against a determined Moe last Saturday at Bairnsdale City Oval.
The third placed under 17s kept their hopes of a double chance finish alive, overcoming a slow start to recover and score a convincing 28-goal win over the Lions.
Eve Sabell (32 goals) was in great form under the ring, capitalising on some great defensive pressure from her teammates, who worked hard creating some vital turnovers.
Marissa Warfe and Ash Smith led the way for the well-placed Redlegs.
Bairnsdale continued its unbeaten season in the under 15s, surging late to account for the fourth-placed Lions.
Very little separated the two combatants over the initial three quarters, the Redlegs pulling away in the last quarter through some great transition from defence to attack.
Ava Langley (26 goals) and Tahlia Chila continued their outstanding recent form.
In a battle of the fifth and sixth sides in the under 13s, the Redlegs had some great passages of play, but just could not match their opponents over four quarters.
Isla Blake hunted down every ball, making her opponent work hard for the ball and Roxie Jackson had a run in the centre, offering strong drive and passes.
Moe got home easily by 28 goals.
