A fundraising event for local respite facility Melon’s Cottage was held over the weekend and was declared a fantastic event that superseded all expectations.
In its inaugural year the Lakes Entrance Rocktober Festival was extremely popular and looks set to be back next year.
“We first started planning for a rock and roll event three years ago, but COVID got in the way,” secretary of the Rocktober committee and local rock and roll instructor, Rima Pescod, said.
“We decided this year let’s do it no matter what, so we put the feelers out and it has ended up being a great success.”
Rima thought even if they only made $5 at least they had the event up and running, but have already announced a profit of $7000 with a few raffles and donations still to be counted.

The fundraising event saw more than 250 people attend each dance evening at the Mechanics Hall while the streets were busy with show and shine cars, food trucks, stalls and more. $7000 was raised for local respite care accomodation provider, Melon’s Cottage.
