Numbers continue to increase at the Lakes Entrance parkrun as the weather gets warmer, with 78 participants turning out for last Saturday’s edition.
Toby Smith led the enthusiastic field home, with participants running, jogging, and walking the picturesque five-kilometre course along the esplanade.
Some in the field were chasing fitness goals, while others simply enjoyed the camaraderie and fun the event offers.
Smith completed the course in 20 minutes and two seconds, with the first female home, Ella Roberts (21.27), taking her first look at the course.
The event welcomed 18 first-time participants, and eight new personal best times were recorded.
Those achieving new benchmarks included Michael Callega (21.05), Paige Burrows (26.02), Jennifer Allan (26.45), Alex Horowitz (27.59), Karoline Fall (30.20), Michelle Barclay (30.42), Tara Kerr (32.32) and Luke Merante (32.53).
Runners represented three different clubs: East Gippsland Runners, Lakes and District Runners, and Southern Peninsula Sports Club.
Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the rotunda at 8.00am every Saturday and welcomes participants of all abilities.
