Kalimna local Bridget Corcoran has qualified for the World Fitness Project Finals in Copenhagen just 12 months after giving birth to her second child.
A midwife at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service and mother of two, Bridget trains at CrossFit Bairnsdale and recently took out the Female RX 35–39 division at the MastersHQ Championship in Williamstown.
The victory earned her a direct invitation to represent Australia at the World Fitness Project Finals in Copenhagen, Denmark, from December 17 to 20, 2026.
Her qualification marks a remarkable achievement, balancing elite-level training with working healthcare shifts, raising two young children and returning to peak competition following childbirth.
Originally from Melbourne, Bridget moved to the region when her husband Andrew, a police officer, was posted to the Bairnsdale Police Station.
She spent years as a long-distance runner coached by her mother. Following her mother’s passing when Bridget was 20, she searched for a new training direction.
“My brother suggested CrossFit, which involves running, gymnastics, weightlifting, swimming and many other disciplines,” Bridget said.
“It is described as functional movement at high intensity.”
The 35-year-old athlete has enjoyed a stellar 2026 competitive season. In May, she placed fourth at the Torian Pro in Brisbane before claiming her MastersHQ division title to secure her world finals berth.
She has also qualified for the Down Under Championship in Wollongong this November, serving as a key tune-up before travelling to Denmark.
Bridget praised CrossFit Bairnsdale owners Bree and Marty for their ongoing support throughout her campaign.
“They have been amazing,” Bridget said.
“Marty is a physio and keeps my body going. They have incredible programming and cater to every level, offering classes that accommodate everyone and are very adaptable.”
With international travel, accommodation, and competition fees presenting significant expenses, Bridget is seeking support from East Gippsland businesses, sponsors and community organisations to help fund her world championship bid.
“We are happy to have logos on my shirts or advertise sponsors in any way,” Bridget said.
Local businesses or supporters interested in sponsorship opportunities can contact CrossFit Bairnsdale for further details.
