THUMBS DOWN: To members of a local football club who continually park along the driveway of a popular sporting precinct. Cars cannot safely pass or see pedestrians. Repeated requests to stop are falling on deaf ears, and it is an accident waiting to happen. Stop being lazy — you have a whole oval to park around.
THUMBS DOWN: To those wannabe statesmen who say there are simple solutions to complex problems, and to those gullible enough to vote them into power. Our path begins by learning from nations where people are better off, not blindly mimicking those torn by anger, polarisation, and widespread poverty.
THUMBS UP: To Raymond McCamley for his beautiful poem in last week’s edition. This was the beautiful world many of us grew up in and wish for all future children.
THUMBS UP: To Mark and the team from East Gippsland parks and gardens for saving a magpie tangled with fishing line and dangling four storeys up in Lakes Entrance using their cherry picker. What a great community we live in.
THUMBS UP: To the staff at the Bairnsdale Regional Health Service emergency department. I spent a day there recently and every staff member was friendly, caring, and efficient. We are so lucky to have you when we need you.
