Last Saturday, Levi Walliker led home a field of 47 participants in the weekly five-kilometre sojourn along the esplanade in the Lakes Entrance parkrun.
Walliker ran a time of 20 minutes and 44 seconds, finishing over two minutes ahead of Craig Savory (22.52).
The first female across the line was Chrissie Johnston in her first look at the course. Enthusiasts hit the track to run, jog, or walk — some chasing personal fitness goals and others simply enjoying the community camaraderie on offer.
The event welcomed seven first-time participants, while two runners set new personal benchmarks: Tyler Benson (26.06) and Karoline Fall (30.35). Participants represented three different clubs on the day, including Lakes and District Runners, Merri Creek Running Club and Southern Peninsula Sports Club.
Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the Esplanade Rotunda at 8am every Saturday morning and welcomes participants of all fitness levels and abilities.
Since launching on February 3, 2018, the local event has seen 5104 participants cross the finish line.
