The annual Vietnam Veterans 4BBB served as the headline event at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club this past week, with Neil Howell and Ashley Chester combining in outstanding fashion to claim victory.
The classy pair posted a winning total of 46 points, finishing two shots clear of runners-up Allan McKenna and Julie Anne O’Neil. McKenna and O’Neil secured second place on a countback ahead of Ivan Hamilton and Les Beattie.
Earlier in the week, the Young and the Rest of Us session on Tuesday saw Gizelle Phillips take out top honours by two shots over Lois Van Der Velden.
Wednesday’s medley stableford, played off the orange tees, was dominated by the in-form Marlene Holmes, who clinched victory with 35 points on a countback from Genny Egan.
A strong field of 71 players turned out for Thursday’s medley stableford, where Murray Webb put on a dominant display to finish six points clear of the entire field. Webb won “B” grade and the overall daily victory with 41 points. Neil Howell continued his successful week by taking out “A” grade with 35 points, while Geoff Preston posted the same score to claim “C” grade.
Meanwhile, entry forms are now available for the club’s annual Spring Tournament, which will run from October 21 to 25.
