PREVIEW

After dominating the competition throughout the home and away season, Boisdale Briagolong will need to regroup quickly after being upset by Orbost Snowy Rovers last Saturday.

This Saturday at the Bairnsdale City Oval they will do battle in a do or die East Gippsland Football Netball League preliminary final battle against an Orbost Snowy Rovers line up that looks to be peaking at the right time.

Mid season additions, Max Welsh, Charlie Mein and Byron Vickery are playing well and improving each week.

The Blues are unlikely to make any changes, while the Bombers will consider bringing in Jude and Declan Scriven, and Harry Swarski, though given their points allocation, that might result in a significant reshuffle, though they did have a point up their sleeve last week, which will work in Jude Scriven’s favour.

If the Bombers all star midfield of Kelvin Porter, Ben Brunt, Tom Jolly, and Kade Renooy can regain their mojos which certainly weren’t at 100 per cent capacity last week, against the ball magnet, David Donchi, Justin Gould and Cameron McPhan, they should be too good for the Blues on the big spacious Bairnsdale Oval.

But Orbost will be buoyed by the fact they knocked the Bombers off last year at the same venue in the elimination final.

Co-coach, Clancy Bennett is looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s a big challenge, but we believe at present, we have both the ideas and belief to challenge anyone,” Bennett said.

At Boisdale, co-coach, Sam Bedggood is hoping his side can turn it around quickly.

“It will be great to get back on the big ground, hopefully we can fix a few things from last week and maybe that was the loss we needed to have,” Bedggood said.

Lindenow awaits the winner seven days later on the biggest stage, grand final day, but there’s a bit too play out before then.

Kieran Vickery has been a star for the Blues all season, he will need to put in another huge performance if the Blues are to progress to the grand final. K73 – 8920
Boisdale Briagolong captain, Jimmy Reeves had a quiet qualifying final and he will be keen to bounce back in the preliminary final. (PS)
Kelvin Porter was down against Lindenow, he will be primed for a huge match against Orbost Snowy Rovers this Saturday at the Bairnsdale City Oval. (PS)
