Gippsland sports night of nights was held recently at the Morwell Bowling Club, the annual Gippstar awards.
This year’s overall winner was Bairnsdale tennis player, Luke Missen, the current number one ranked Para Standing player in the world.
The award is deserved recognition of all the hard work that Missen has put in both on the court and in the background promoting Para Standing Tennis.
He will be soon jet off to compete on the world stage at the US Open.
The junior Gippstar was taken out by 13-year-old Glengarry shooter, Jack Brady.
In the teams section, the junior team of the year was the Gippsland Grammar senior girls first quad scull rowing team.
In the open section, the award went the way of the Old Spice Girls netball side.
Orbost Hockey Club were named club of the year, and their hard working secretary, Bree Kenny received a special achiever award.
Australian woman’s cricket captain, Sophie Molineux was awarded the “Gippsland Champion” award after leading her team World Cup glory.
Each winner has made an outstanding contribution to Gippsland sport and thoroughly deserves this recognition.
