East Gippsland local Steven Fletcher is gearing up to share his story with the world once again, entering the prestigious Focus on Ability Short Film Festival for the fourth time.

Steven, who was born with cerebral palsy, has possessed a lifelong passion for radio broadcasting and video production.

Rather than letting physical challenges slow him down, he has continuously used digital storytelling as a platform to connect, create and inspire.

His latest short film, Through My Eyes, is a deeply personal documentary that highlights his major personal milestones, creative projects and achievements over the past year.

Through his entry, Steven hopes to demonstrate that physical limitations do not define an individual’s potential.

“It is possible that people with disabilities can accomplish things like this,” Steven said, encouraging others in the community to pursue their own ambitions regardless of the hurdles they face.

The Focus on Ability Short Film Festival is an international event that celebrates the unique talents and achievements of people living with disabilities.

The festival relies on a public voting system to help determine its award winners, making community backing a vital component for entrants.

As the voting week approaches, Steven expressed deep appreciation for the ongoing encouragement he receives from the local East Gippsland region and beyond.

“I’m so grateful to the people that vote for me,” he said.

Public voting officially opened last Friday, August 21, and is open until this Friday, August 28.

Local residents and film lovers are encouraged to cast their votes for Steven’s film, Through My Eyes, by visiting the official Focus on Ability Short Film Festival website during the voting window.
