Lakes Entrance was unable to make an impression on the unbeaten Wy Yung in the East Gippsland Junior Football Association under 15 grand final last Sunday at the Bairnsdale City Oval.
The Tigers, the dominant side in the competition all season, jumped the Seagulls in the opening term with six unanswered goals to take early control of the match.
Lakes Entrance coach Gerard Kennedy encouraged his side to return to basics at the quarter time break. The second quarter developed into an arm wrestle, with the Seagulls fighting hard in the contest but unable to reduce the margin below five goals.
Any chance of a comeback was quashed in the third term as Wy Yung added four goals to one to extend the lead to 57 points.
The Seagulls delivered their best football in the final quarter, kicking three goals in a display of perseverance before succumbing by 48 points.
Lakes Entrance had no multiple goalkickers on the day. Among the better players for the Seagulls were Henry Lothian, Jeremy Rotheram, Mason Luu, Zac Elfrink, Patrick McGinty and Jacob Silver.
