With endless debates and online claims making Australia’s energy transition feel overwhelming, a free local information session in Bairnsdale will offer clear, practical answers about the nation’s energy future.
Featuring guest speaker John Gwyther, the session aims to address common questions surrounding the shift away from coal-fired power and what it means for local households, primary producers and regional industries.
Regional communities built on farming, fishing, forestry, small business and essential services rely on affordable, reliable power, but online misinformation often fuels confusion about grid changes and renewable energy integration.
Known for cutting through complex technical jargon with plain-English facts, Mr Gwyther will explain how global emission targets and rapid technological shifts are transforming the energy grid through both large and small-scale renewables.
Designed for business owners, primary producers, and interested residents alike, the presentation will conclude with an open Q&A session where audience members can ask questions directly.
The event will be held on Thursday, August 27 at The Hub (Old High School), located at 27 Dalmahoy Street, Bairnsdale. Refreshments will be served from 5.30pm ahead of a 6pm start.
While entry is free and open to all, bookings are preferred for catering purposes.
