Seaspray lifesavers celebrate season success and look to boost patrol numbers

Members, dignitaries and supporters gathered recently as the Seaspray Surf Life Saving Club (SSLSC) held its annual presentation evening to celebrate the achievements of the 2025/26 season.

Distinguished guests included Life Saving Victoria president Susan Wolff, alongside Wellington Shire Council mayor Cr Cindy Madeley and Cr Geoff Wells.

SSLSC president Chris welcomed attendees, offering a brief summary of the season’s milestones and outlining the club’s direction for the future, noting a strong focus on boosting active patrol numbers for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

The evening featured a wide array of accolades, including five and 10-year National Service Awards, Bronze and Silver Medallions, and formal life membership inductions.

Among the major award recipients:

– Lifesaver of the Year (Barrie Smith Award): Tom Fleming

– Youth Lifesaver of the Year: Mac Whittaker

– Volunteer of the Year: Julia Graham

– Most Reliable Patrol Person: James Robbins

– Women in Life Saving Awards: Courtney Mraz and Emma Feltis

– Pauline Muller Nipper Encouragement Award: Murray Armstrong and Lila Whittaker

– State Championship Award: Josh Morton, Lila Whittaker, and Evie Whittaker

– Outstanding Sporting Achievement: Jess Jackson and Mackenzie Gibbs

– Appreciation Awards: Millie O’Brien and Freya Ault

The Sharks, captained by Emma Feltis, took home the coveted Patrol Group of the Year award.

The highlight of the evening saw Marty Jackson and Lachlan Andrews officially inducted as SSLSC Life Members in recognition of their outstanding long-term service and dedication to the club.
