Lakes Entrance junior footballers are well-rested and ready for action following a timely week off ahead of the 2026 East Gippsland Junior Football Association finals, which kick off this Sunday at Bairnsdale City Oval.
The late-season bye allowed key players extra time to recover from lingering injuries and build peak fitness ahead of the high-stakes finals series.
The Seagulls’ under 15 side, which finished second on the ladder after a strong home-and-away campaign, faces a major test against top-ranked rival Wy Yung in the qualifying final at 2.30pm. Wy Yung holds a slight mental edge heading into the clash, having inflicted Lakes Entrance’s only two losses of the home-and-away season.
Meanwhile, the third-placed under 13 squad takes on Bairnsdale in a high-stakes elimination final at 9.30am.
Honours were even between the two under 13 teams during the regular season, though the Redlegs claimed bragging rights in their most recent encounter with a five-goal victory in round 10. The Seagulls will be determined to reverse that result on Sunday to keep their season alive and advance to next week’s preliminary final.
