Anglers and community members are invited to attend a free recreational fishing forum hosted by the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) at the Gippsland Lakes Fishing Club on Thursday, August 20.
Running from 7pm to 9pm, the session will feature presentations from VFA staff on the current state of local Gippsland Lakes fisheries, with a focus on black bream, estuary perch and dusky flathead, as well as kingfish and mulloway stocks. Presenters will also share updates regarding the proposed VFA marine hatchery initiative.
Key speakers for the evening will include Dr Taylor Hunt, Anthony Forster and Mark Adams. Following the presentations, the floor will open for a Q&A session, giving attendees the chance to share ideas, ask questions and chat about all things fishing.
The Paynesville event is one of 10 free forums being hosted by the VFA across Victoria. The sessions aim to give local anglers direct access to fisheries managers to hear about regional projects and discuss ways to continue improving recreational fishing opportunities statewide.
Food and beverages will be available throughout the evening.
