Second-placed Lakes Entrance under 15s recorded their third consecutive victory last Sunday, comfortably accounting for Orbost Snowy Rovers by 50 points in round 12 East Gippsland Junior Football Association action at the Lakes Entrance Recreation Reserve.
The win locks away a guaranteed top-two finish for the Seagulls and sets up a qualifying final date with the unbeaten Wy Yung.
The match lacked its usual fierce arch-rivalry atmosphere, with the Blues struggling for numbers on the day. However, Lakes Entrance capitalised on the opportunity, demonstrating an impressive spread of goalkickers to show they have plenty of avenues to the big sticks.
Lochie Yates and Zac Elfrink spearheaded
the attack with three majors each. They were well supported by Sunny Eiseman, Reide Ymer, Jacob Silver, Patrick McGinty and Jeremy Rotheram, who all chipped in with two goals apiece.
Best players were plentiful for the home side, led by Henry Lothian, Yates, McGinty, Rotheram, Cohen Kleinitz and Reide Ymer.
It was a double celebration for the Seagulls as the under 13s also secured a comfortable five-goal victory over the visitors.
While a top-two finish remains mathematically unlikely, the win keeps Lakes Entrance’s dream alive. The young Seagulls completely controlled the stoppages and dominated across half-back, suffocating Orbost Snowy Rovers’ forward entries and restricting the visitors to just two majors for the day.
A dangerous forward structure was led by Jacob Spiker with four goals, John Sowden with three, and Jude Campisi with two.
Spiker, Eiseman, Ivy O’Donnell, Sowden, Max Friend and Hudson Williams were all standouts in a dominant team performance that won most positions on the ground.
This weekend, Lakes Entrance will make the trip down the highway to Bairnsdale to take on Lucknow.
