Behind the new shop Harmony Lane in Lakes Entrance is a team of dedicated designers who recently participated in the fundraising event Runway Stories Fashion Parade, which was held as part of the East Gippsland Winter Festival.
The director of the East Gippsland Art Gallery, Crystal Stubbs, had a vision to support the younger generation of designers, leading to the creation of the SkillUp Youth Art Program. The parade celebrated the creativity of designers and makers redefining style through sustainability, showcasing many striking, one-of-a-kind garments expertly crafted from beautiful fabrics and brought to life on the runway through bold design and craftsmanship.
To support the SkillUp program and the Runway Stories Fashion Parade at the Forge Theatre in Bairnsdale on July 5, the talented designers and their models from Harmony Lane came to help out, creating vibrant, beautiful garments to wear for different occasions.
Behind the scenes were Atina Baker from Atinadesigns, Marlene Rees from Floating Threads, Paige from Paige’s Designs, and Vicki Brady from Victoria 9. Each designer had to make 12 items, with many hours of work and rehearsals devoted to the event.
Harmony Lane stocks all these makers and many more at 2/239 Esplanade in Lakes Entrance.
