Wattle Haus is set to return this month with Showcase 02, a winter festival night dedicated to celebrating local creativity without boundaries.
Billed as the antithesis of polished corporate culture, the event promises a beautifully strange mix of neo-folk, punk, shoegaze, modular electronica, spoken word, experimental sounds and performance happenings.
The diverse genres will be mashed together with live painting, video projections and curated visual chaos.
The event brings together musicians, visual artists, performers, and self-described “beautiful misfits” from wildly different disciplines to create an immersive, one-off experience.
Organisers Tobias McCamley and Sean Lockhart describe the philosophy behind the event as building a “permaculture within the arts” — a thriving creative ecosystem where different disciplines inspire and strengthen one another.
The Showcase 02 lineup welcomes back several acts associated with Wattle Haus since its inception, including Subclass 820, Panda & Goliath, Ashley Carmody, Conscript and Jake Carmichael. They will be joined by compelling new additions such as Billie Spokes, RO, and others. Combined with shadow puppets, projections, and live art, the night is designed to fully engage the senses.
The venue, Iceworks.3909 in Lakes Entrance, provides a fitting backdrop. Part historic industrial relic and part sculptural artwork, the venue has been transformed into a unique creative hub while retaining the raw, functional character of its original architecture.
Serving as a grand farewell to the closing weekend of the 2026 East Gippsland Winter Festival, Wattle Haus Showcase 02 will run from 5pm to 9.15pm on Saturday, 18 July. Tickets can be purchased via the official East Gippsland Winter Festival website.
