Two talented Maffra Secondary College students have earned selection in the Victorian Equestrian team and are set to compete at the prestigious Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships this September.
Year 11 student Xanthe Wade secured her ticket after a stellar performance at the VEIS Grand Final Showjumping event, held at Werribee Park last weekend. Wade put on a clinic to finish as the Overall Series Reserve Champion in the highly competitive Senior Progressive Showjumping division.
Her schoolmate, year nine student Chelsie Hanna, qualified after dominant performances in the Secondary 80cm Combined Training and Show Horse disciplines at the VEIS Championships back in April.
On the back of these strong individual results, Maffra Secondary College finished an impressive 16th overall on the Victorian school leaderboard.
Wade and Hanna will proudly represent both their state and school when they take to the arena at the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre for the National Championships, running from September 26 to October 1.
