Jett Knur lit up the Lakes Entrance esplanade on Saturday morning, clocking a significant personal best to lead home a field of 60 eager participants in the weekly five-kilometre parkrun.

Knur crossed the finish line in an impressive 17 minutes and four seconds. The dominant performance shaved 33 seconds off his previous benchmark, marking a stellar milestone in his 13th appearance at the Lakes Entrance event.

Annmarie Darcy was the first female finisher to cross the line, also securing a personal best time of 23.47.

The crisp morning attracted a diverse crowd of runners, joggers, and walkers, including 11 first-timers testing out the scenic course. Conditions proved ideal for fast times, with six other local athletes recording new personal bests.

Among those celebrating personal milestones were Timothy Patrick (28.25), Brendan Fiedler (30.43), Jessie Ng (30.49), Brian Wallace (38.50), Karin Brown (40.57), and Vicki Cassidy (45.37).

The community event also drew strong representation from organised sports groups, with runners from eight different clubs taking part. Notable contingents included the Lakes and District Runners, Sale and District Runners, Nobby’s Nutcases, Southern Peninsula Sporting Club, Knox Triathlon Club, Australia Post Group, Everlasting Fitness Runners, and the uniquely named Derek Zoolander Centre for Kids Who Can’t Run Good.

The Lakes Entrance parkrun departs from the esplanade rotunda at 8am every Saturday. Funded by volunteers, the free weekly event welcomes participants of all ages, fitness levels, and abilities.

Lakes Entrance parkrun volunteers last Saturday were Glynn Riseley, Ivana Koolen,
Kirsten Daly, Suzanne Spicer, Tania Casey, Alison Doucette, Kieran Casey, Zane Boxshall and Kim Clausing. (PS)
