Popular Lakes Entrance “D” grade golfer Mark Evans shot the lights out on the weekend, winning the Saturday medley event with a sensational score of 41 points.
Evans finished as a two-shot victor over “B” grade winner Jason Clarke, while Greg Hayes returned to winning form, taking out “C” grade with 37 points. Matthew Stevens snared the “A” grade honours following a tight countback against the ever-competitive Stuart Yates.
In mid-week veteran action last Tuesday, Margaret McManus emerged as a two-shot winner over Lori Murray in the Young and the Rest of Us competition. Meanwhile, at Ruthless and Toothless, Peter Nicholas (“A” grade) and Rex Mockett (“B” grade) again found themselves at the pointy end of proceedings. Leo O’Keefe took home the putting award after navigating the greens with just 14 putts.
On Wednesday, Gizelle Phillips used her 54 handicap to full advantage, claiming the medley stableford with an impressive 42 points. Apola Weel was also victorious on the day, taking out “A” grade with 35 points.
Player numbers were slightly down last Thursday for the medley stableford, with a field of 62 players teeing off. Dallas Riseley led the field home, claiming both the “B” grade title and the overall victory with 38 points. Riseley secured the overall win on a countback from “A” grade victor and classy left-hander Mark Jackson. John Melrose rounded out the Thursday winners, taking “C” grade with 34 points on a countback from Bruce Wilmhurst.
