Telstra has announced upcoming disruptions to its mobile coverage in the Lakes Entrance area, following a request by a third party to temporarily shut down parts of the local mobile base station.
The service disruptions were scheduled to begin yesterday (Tuesday, June 23), and will last for six days. To minimise the impact on residents and visitors, Telstra has confirmed that the network will be fully restored at the end of each day’s scheduled works.
Telstra mobile customers in the affected area will receive an advisory SMS outlining the upcoming maintenance timeline.
The telco confirmed that the works will only affect the mobile network; NBN broadband, satellite internet services, standard PSTN landline services, and mobile coverage from alternative network providers will remain completely unaffected.
Emergency services will also remain accessible. Any calls made to Triple Zero (000) from a Telstra handset while the local site is off-air will automatically divert to another available mobile network to ensure connection to emergency operators.
