The Gippsland Lakes Fishing Club with support from ESSO are holding a Kid’s Fishing and Activities Day on Sunday, June 28, with a Catch and Release competition included.
This will be a free event encouraging mums and dads to get their kids out on the water and go for a fish.
Registrations are open from 7am on the morning and fishing starts from 8am, with lines up by 2.30pm. Everyone is invited back to the clubrooms at Bullock Island for refreshments and a sausage sizzle afterwards. Presentations will be held at 4pm, with a prize for the largest fish and a show bag for each child who participated in the day.
“The whole idea is to encourage kids to get out and enjoy fishing with the emphasis on catch and release,” secretary of the club, Trevor Pillinger, said.
“We appreciate ESSO’s sponsorship and look forward to all the kids getting out and having fun.
The Fishing Club has an all abilities day coming up later in the year which is supported by GippSport.
“We also have a raffle for a trailer load of wood happening soon and sausage sizzles at Anaconda in Bairnsdale. We appreciate the support from Anaconda and Lakes Angler for these activities,” Trevor said.
