Rick Murray is the winner of the June men’s monthly medal at the Lakes Entrance Golf Club.
Murray shot a brilliant six-under-par to take out “A” grade and overall victory, finishing just one stroke ahead of “B” grade winner Paul Rades.
Stuart Symes took home the “C” grade honours with a score of plus one, while Betty Martin was victorious in “D” grade, also claiming the ladies’ monthly pin with a splendid five-under-par round.
Last Thursday’s event offered a change of pace with a medley stableford multiplier the order of the day. Murray was again to the fore, combining with Clint Dostine to post a winning score of 77 points. The duo finished a shot ahead of runners-up Brett Stokes and Dave Smythe, with Tony Varone and Neil Howell a further shot back in third place.
Bette Severs shot the lights out last Wednesday in the medley stableford competition, carding a sensational 44 points. She finished six shots clear of “A” grade winner Katrina Fearnley. Club champion Renee Percival was again on target on the par threes, walking away with two nearest-the-pin prizes.
Last week’s ruthless and toothless event attracted 31 players. “A” grade was taken out by Peter Knights, while “B” grade went the way of Rex Mockett. Tony Fedat won the putting competition needing just 11 strokes of the wand, while Don Harley was named this week’s NAGA recipient.
