Local basketballer Evelyn Ash has been announced as a successful applicant for round two of Basketball Victoria’s Lead Your Way program, which will be held in Traralgon.
Funded under the Australian Sports Commission’s ‘Play Our Way’ grant, Lead Your Way is an introductory leadership initiative specifically designed for young women aged 13 to 17 who are actively involved in playing, coaching, or refereeing basketball. The program focuses on building leadership skills, confidence, and teamwork within a fun and supportive environment.
The upcoming Traralgon session will see Ms Ash and her fellow participants step into practical leadership roles. These opportunities include delivering basketball clinics at the Southern Aboriginal Sports First Nations Tournament and gaining hands-on experience in wheelchair basketball coaching.
Organisers note these unique experiences are designed to offer participants valuable insight into community connection and inclusive sport.
Basketball Victoria stated it was excited to see this group of young women connect, grow their confidence and continue building their leadership journeys both on and off the court.
