During April, the Metung Lions Club held a Prostate Information Day at St John’s Metung, sponsored by the Bairnsdale Prostate Cancer Support Group.
Approximately 30 people attended the event to hear firsthand experiences from several support group members, alongside an informative presentation from the local district prostate cancer nurse.
Following the successful information session, the Metung Lions donated $1000 to assist with the research and support efforts of the Victorian Prostate Council.
Metung Lions secretary Malcolm Reed strongly encouraged local men to prioritize their health in light of the initiative.
“Metung Lions urges all men over 45 to visit their doctor and undertake the simple PSA blood test for signs of this cancer, which is highly treatable, especially if detected at an early stage,” Mr Reed said.
