Creative festival preparations are set to light up Lakes Entrance this winter, with The Slipway announcing the return of its popular, free lantern-making workshops during the first week of the upcoming school holidays.
Running daily from 10am to 2pm, the workshops offer local and visiting families a hands-on opportunity to craft a custom-made paper and willow lantern. The completed creations can then be proudly carried by participants in the highly anticipated Lakes Lights Parade, scheduled for Saturday, July 4.
The drop-in sessions require no prior bookings or previous crafting experience. All necessary materials are provided free of charge, and community members of all ages are welcome to attend, though children must be supervised by an adult.
While the workshops are entirely free to attend, the organisers note that community donations are always greatly appreciated to help sustain future community arts programs. Special internal safety lights will also be available for purchase to illuminate the handmade lanterns on the night of the parade.
The winter holiday workshops are proudly supported by the Centre for Rural Communities Inc., fostering community connection and regional creativity.
