A flagship recreational and cultural infrastructure project for the region has secured its next phase of development, with East Gippsland Shire Council greenlighting a key component of the Krauatungalung Walk recently.
Following a divided debate, a majority vote saw council formally award the construction contract for Stage 2 – Section 4 of the highly anticipated Lakes Entrance lakeside trail.
The overarching project is designed to create a continuous, accessible walking pathway that deeply honours the rich cultural heritage of the Gunaikurnai people while significantly boosting local tourism infrastructure.
This crucial phase focuses on extending the existing boardwalks and pathways, ensuring seamless connection to key tourist precincts, and upgrading shoreline infrastructure.
